Kent – Musik Non Stop

I needed a hundredth of a second
now that I’ve made the decision, I’m calm

visions in my head when you smile

I’ve found something beautiful

my friend, do you see what I see

I’m almost like you

And you are like me when you’re dancing

have never met anyone like you

you are like me when you’re dancing

music non stop to the end

I resigned to catch some sun

and I moved my desk and my chair

to the night garage under our house

when I close my eyes I see the light

I’m almost like you

And you are like me when you’re dancing

have never met anyone like you

you are like me when you’re dancing

music non stop to the end

So it took me a hundredth of a second

I’ve travelled back in time, become young

visions in my head when you smile

I’ve found something beautiful, my friend

do you see what I see?

I’m almost like you

And you are like me when you’re dancing

have never met anyone like you

you are like me when you’re dancing

music non stop to the end

And you are like me when you’re dancing

have never met anyone like you

you are like me when you’re dancing

music non stop to the end

Kent – Max 500

12 Jul

I love Kent so much and it saddens me that I don’t know most of the words they’re singing… This is one of my favourite songs by them. Kent are a rock group from Sweden, who met a much broader audience with their hit “Musik Non Stop” (Music Non Stop) from their album Hagnesta Hill, one of the band’s two albums re-recorded in English. My take is that their songs are better in Swedish, and I am desperately trying to find translated lyrics, so I can finally fully appreciate their work. The lyrics to Max 500 in Swedish are:

Månen hänger lågt
över allt du tror du såg
Under trasigt moln
går ett Yeti-spår

500 mil i snön
Ett UFO över sjön
och i en blixt ser jag
Keats stå bredvid Baudelaire
Som magi ett ljus man drunknar i
Det finns små trick som får folk
att ge dig mer än du är värd…

Mary Shelleys dröm
syr en sick-sacksöm
över allt som vintern gömt
över allt som hjärtat glömt

500 mil i snön
Ett UFO över sjön
och i en blixt dansar
Lady Day vals med Astaire
Som magi ett ljus man drunknar i
Det finns små trick som får folk
att ge dig mer än du är värd…

500 mil i snön
Ett UFO över sjön
och med en blick får jag folk att tro
på magi ett ljus man drunknar i
Det finns små trick som får folk
att ge dig mer än du är värd….

They talk about superstitions and belief in what one’s seeing. Is the moon playing tricks on him/her, is it a dream, the unknown? My best part, when he sees Keats stand beside Baudelaire, after a UFO passes by. Any help is appreciated in translating the whole of the lyrics. What I got from an online translator was weird. Especially the “The find small trick as sheep people that impart yourself more than yous is landlord” part…

Max 500 is taken from their 2005 album Du & jag döden (You and me death). Their next one is scheduled for an autumn release!

Hot Kiss, won’t you tell me what you miss, boy?
My Love, you got me spinning like a wound-up toy

Juliette & The Licks – Hot Kiss

You might recognize Juliette Lewis from her acting career (Cape Fear and Natural Born Killers among others), but I wish I had known about her singing career as well, before her live gig here in Thessaloniki, cause I would’ve been the first to buy a ticket. Her rock singing, travels you back in time to all those punk influences and grunge vocal strings. I found most all her songs enjoyable and catchy, something really impressive. The group’s latest album is titled Four On The Floor. Thanks to sushi-pervert for introducing me to Hot Kiss!
